About Us
From the beginning, we've viewed kites as the fine art of enjoying the wind. Into The Wind was founded in 1980 by architects, George Emmons and Jim Glass. For years they were Into The Wind. They would test fly and photograph the kites, produce the catalog, take and ship mail orders and operate the store 7 days a week. In their spare time they designed and made several kites, which still appear in the catalog. Over the years Into The Wind has grown into a group of around 20 folks who enjoy making our living by helping other people enjoy the wind. Most recently we moved our mail order offices and shipping upstairs to the former Rocky Mountain Joe's Café space. Besides giving us room to increase our mail order selection, it enabled us to nearly double the size of our retail store. For the first time in years, we have space for (nearly) all of our kites and for lots of new toys. If you're ever in Colorado, come see how we've grown.
Our Retail Store
Location
Located on the historic downtown Boulder Mall, Into The Wind’s store and mailorder are in a turn of the century building at 1408 Pearl Street.
Driving Directions
From Denver, take I-25 north and turn west on US-36. When you reach Boulder, US-36 becomes 28th street. Proceed north on 28th and turn left (west) on Pearl Street. Drive until you reach the pedestrian Mall at 15th Street (there’s a convenient parking garage on the left of this intersection). We’re in the first block of the Mall, between 14th and 15th streets.
Store Hours
The store is open Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 9:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 6:00 from June through December. It’s open 10:00 to 6:00 everyday from January through May.

Into The Wind does not offer any franchising opportunities at this time. Currently we operate one retail store located in Boulder, Colorado on the Pearl Street Mall.

This is my favorite site on the entire internet! Not only is there a fantastic range of products, but the site is one of the best-designed I have seen (and I have two sons working in web design.) The biggest problem is that, having found the site, I now can't resist returning to it and spending far more than I ever intended. And the service matches the site--first-class in every way. I was hoping this spinner would replace one I purchased at the Marina Festival of the Wind in CA many years ago, but sadly it can't compare.
The aerodynamics of the spinner don't allow it to catch the wind. It sits on my 16' pole and gets caught and twisted and never spins at all.
although I'm using the swivels that came with it and the pole that is recommended (fiberglass), still no luck even in 15mph gusts!
I'm going to try the basket next and put the sock spinner in the closet as a pretty wind sock.

It only took one flight for the Rocky Mountain DC to become my favorite kite. Ditto for my wife. It looks absolutely beautiful in flight - pictures don't do it justice. Rock steady, it hauls line laundry effortlessly and soars at a very high angle when the wind blows. You'll need to hold on tight, though. As my wife says, "this kite's a tugger!" [read more] |

I've been getting ITWs catalog for several years...just havinf moved to Nashville, TN from Orlando, FL....WIDE. OPEN spaces for kite flying here in the Musik City, USA!!!!!! I could find kite shops closer to my location but really like ITW and their great service....ITW are REAL kite folks....The orders are packed well and delivery time is quick....I'm pretty enthused about ITW and look forward to kite season(s) with them...purchasing and flying their kites...The DELTA Wings they carry are fantastic....

Good luck if your physical address is different from your legal postal address. ITW provides space for a four line address, but when you proceed through checkout the second line disappears. When queried they say that the info is there (I guess they don't show it to keep you guessing) and that they usually ship UPS (small comfort when they don't). I'm always shocked when small companies with good products don't respond to customers needs, but if they don't care, I don't either. I'll shop elsewhere. [read more] |

I have been a customer for years and last week I ordered several items and had them shipped to the resort where we were staying at Port Aransas, TX. When I checked in the desk clerk told me that UPS had delivered a package for me earlier in the day. Two members of my family were celebrating their birthdays and I was able to surprise them with their new kites and things. All products are great and packaged well. Perfect customer service!

i just got to test my new itw scilliation kite and i was very impressed after some simple assembly and a light wind [less than 10 mph] this kite just jumped into the air, unlike other kites it needed no "tweeking"to make it fly right. after flight inspection reveiled nothing but quaility throughout it has an amazing wing spar, oh it should be noted its at least 7mm thick, in my expierance this kite will last a long time and my kite will fly alot [read more] |

100% Satisfied. Great Customer Service, Careful Packaging, Quality Products. I think Into The Wind is the only Kite store to offer a catalog by mail. Looking at products on the internet is fine, but I prefer a color catalog.
The Rocky Mountain DC made its debut in Charlotte, NC and lifted up a Cloud Kid with ease. People were so intrigued with the Cloud Kid!

My wife purchased a Big Bang H2O for Christmas and we were going to fly it today. The kite we recieved was deffective. After opening and trying to assemble, we found that one of the trailing edges would not fit together because the two pieces are the same size. The end caps on the trailing edge do not have slots. Also, the center T-Bar that the lower spreader connects to was not in the kite package. The directions that came with the kite were for an M-80. I tried emailling, but the email provided on their website does not work. Not a very good first impression. [read more] |

After recieving my prism stunt kite, the first flight resulted in a stunt strap (prism strap) unwraveling and falling apart.Calling the company and talking to a wonderful rep. , they replaced the straps with a pair of itw straps at no charge and in three days I was up and flying.Thanks to itw and there quick service and response they are the only company I will ever buy from for all my kite needs and supplys.Thank you for running such a great company!
